Silly Petunia Bow

Here is Petunia Bow - my fun, happy pup. She's on my 'about me' page, but I thought I'd share a little more about my best buddy. Petunia loves to chase squirrels. She loves to chase squirrels so much that you have to spell s-q-u-i-r-r-e-l when she's around. Petunia also loves food and will eat almost anything - much to her own detriment. She loves her toys and playing tug. But, most important, she loves us - her family.

I couldn't ask for a better pup. But.... she can sometimes get herself into a tinny, tiny bit of a trouble.

For example...

During the summer, my kids and I played out on our front porch. Petunia did not like this, as she couldn't join us. See, one of our doggy's slight flaws (itty, bitty, tinny, tiny flaw) is that she gets a little excited in new situations. So excited she forgets where she is and where we are - meaning the dog gets herself lost in her never ending quest for squirrels. We can't let her out on the front porch. She'll either jump right over the railing or bust through any gate we put up.

Petunia cried and cried. We tried to reassure her, sitting next to the window and talking to her. She only cried louder. I got up from my chair when whines turned to whimpers. I looked through the screen and saw my silly dog pressed against it. She had gotten herself stuck on the windowsill.

How? You ask? How does a forty pound dog get stuck on a six inch windowsill? A windowsill only two feet off the floor? I came inside thinking all I had to do was walk into the room and she'd jump down - the sill is only two feet off the floor. Instead, she whined even louder and tried to wiggle-waggle her rear-end and tail.

"Petunia, come."

The dog responded by whacking her body even harder against the sill and screen. I realized Petunia Bow had gotten herself good and truly stuck. I moved to lift her down when the curtains fell on both of us. She got tangled in the material. She whimpered even louder. I lifted both curtains and dog off the 'cliffs of doom'. She tripped, still caught. Quickly, she freed herself and then raced around the house like her back-end was on fire. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Exhausted by the trials and tribulations of the past 15 minutes, she flopped down on top of my feet, snoring.

Silly dog.

But, she loves us and we love her.
